The UMBSOD, formerly known as the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery has the distinction of being the first and oldest dental school in the world, and the place where the degree of DDS was created.
Dr Mitchell was born in Asheboro, NC and has lived in North Carolina for his entire life outside of his dental education. He has also lived in Greensboro, High Point, and Raleigh, where he attended NC State, where he received a major in Biological Sciences with a minor in Genetics. After spending 4 years in Downtown Baltimore, he is very glad to have returned home, and thinks very highly of Charlotte.
Dr Mitchell believes that providing treatment is only part of his job of taking care of his patient’s oral health, and finds it equally important to educate those who he treats. Awareness, knowledge, and education are extremely important when trying to understand the value of necessary treatment. It is one of his primary goals to make sure that his patients understand why problems occur, and how to prevent them in the future.
Dr Mitchell is a member of the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the North Carolina Dental Society, and believes in continuous learning. He takes continuing education courses to advance his knowledge and skills. It is his intention to maintain a high level of awareness in cutting edge dentistry and new ideas, as well as the mastery of proven dental techniques.
Dr Mitchell’s personal goal is to provide an environment of care that is both comprehensive and compassionate. It is his intention to give his patients the care that they need, the knowledge to prevent problems in the future, and a positive outlook and attitude about oral health in general.
Dr Mitchell married his wife Amanda in the spring of 2014. They live in South Charlotte and enjoy time spent cooking and traveling. Dr Mitchell spends his free time at several YMCA locations around Charlotte including the Childress-Klein and Dowd.
